Rooted in Family & Tradition

Growing Up Around the Farm

Alex Fogleman grew up on this farm alongside his sister Caitlin, his mom Catherine, and his dad David. Farm life was woven into everyday living, and Alex spent his childhood surrounded by agriculture and family tradition. He watched as his uncles, Dean and Mike Fogleman, along with his grandfather, farmed the land—planting, harvesting, and continuing the legacy that shaped Fogleman Farms. Those experiences instilled a deep appreciation for the land, hard work, and the importance of family.  As Dean and Mike continued to farm the land, a new vision began to grow. Alex dreamed of creating a place where families could experience more than just farm-grown crops—a place filled with fun, learning, and memories made together.

From Garden Road to the Farm

That vision began in 2006, when Alex started working at a small Christmas tree lot while he was still in school, known as Santa’s Tree Garden. A few years later, Alex took over the business, which still operates today—and continues to grow each year—at 3340 Garden Road in Burlington, NC.

In 2020, Alex and his wife Dee welcomed their daughter Sophia, inspiring the creation of Sophia’s Pumpkin Patch, a seasonal pumpkin lot offering pumpkins and gourds grown right on the farm. Soon after, Red’s Farm & Garden was added, allowing the family to operate nearly year-round with plants, flowers, trees, and seasonal local produce.

Bringing Families to Fogleman Farms

In 2023, the same year Alex and Dee welcomed their son John, Fogleman Farms opened for its first season as a simple farm stand selling pumpkins and gourds grown right on the land. Over the next two years, that small beginning steadily grew as new attractions were built and added season after season. What started as a farm stand evolved into a family-friendly destination with bounce houses, cow train rides, duck races, corn mazes, hayrides, a mega slide, playground, corn pit, and an on-site concession stand proudly named John’s Filling Station.  As the farm continues to grow, so does the imagination behind it. Each year brings new ideas, improvements, and dreams of even more fun attractions to add—ensuring there’s always something new to discover when families return to Fogleman Farms.

A True Family-Run Farm

At the heart of Fogleman Farms is a shared family vision led by Alex Fogleman. Alex continues to run the day-to-day operations of the farm and helps facilitate new ideas and expansions, all while staying hands-on in every aspect of the business. On any given day, you’ll find him running concessions, driving hayrides and the cow train, facilitating field trips, and educating little ones about farm life, pumpkin growing, and where their food comes from—along with countless behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the farm moving forward.

Dean and Mike Fogleman continue farming the land, carrying on the agricultural traditions that have shaped Fogleman Farms for generations. They are also familiar faces during the season, often found driving hayrides and helping visitors experience the farm firsthand.

David Fogleman is always right by Alex’s side, offering steady support and jumping in wherever help is needed. From picking pumpkins and building new attractions to setting up, tearing down, cleaning, and organizing, David plays an active, hands-on role in bringing Alex’s ideas to life and keeping the farm running smoothly day in and day out.

Catherine Fogleman can often be found working the retail stand and welcoming guests with a smile, helping ensure every visit feels warm, friendly, and inviting.

Behind the scenes, Dee plays an essential role as both a supportive wife and a driving force behind the farm’s organization and growth. From managing social media and marketing to handling field trip bookings, scheduling, coordination, and overall management, Dee helps keep everything running smoothly while supporting Alex’s vision every step of the way.

Adding a sweet touch to the farm experience, Caitlin occasionally shares her talents by selling homemade baked goods at the farm. Her fresh treats add an extra layer of comfort and homegrown charm that visitors look forward to when they’re available.
